Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience
and internal equity with other employees within the same job

County residents and visitors! The Air Instrument Technician
Associate is distinguished from the Air Instrument Technician in
that the Associate performs basic technical work, including filter
installation, filter collection, operation, and maintenance of
sampling units during the week. Support the health of Maricopa

- One year of technical experience in electronics, mechanical
repair, and maintenance
- Post-secondary education in electronics may substitute for the
required experience on a year-for-year basis
- High School Diploma or GED We Also Value
- Associate's degree or higher in electronics or a closely
related field
- Experience in the field of electronic repair and maintenance
Job Contributions
- Collect and transport air quality samples to the lab, using
chain of custody documentation based on a collection schedule
- Perform mandated quality control and quality assurance checks
quarterly, semi-annually, and annually in accordance with DHS
regulations
- Assemble, install, operate, repair, maintain, calibrate
sampling units, rebuild pumps, and document associated events
- Maintain and track sampler instrument performance logs and
report in accordance with DHS regulations
- Participate in DHS environmental sampling, exercises, and
special events Working Conditions
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and bend, kneel,
reach, twist, climb, balance, or crouch
- Work is typically performed in a combination of office and
field environments, driving a County vehicle
- Work can occur on weekends, evenings, or holidays
- Work may occasionally be performed in an environment with
exposure to fumes, smoke, and dust; work is frequently performed
outdoors and may be performed during periods of high temperatures
and humidity, including days when the temperature exceeds 110
F
- Must have sufficient manual dexterity of hands and body to
operate office equipment
- Protective equipment required: Safety boots, full-face
respirator, Tyvek suit, gloves, earplugs, dust masks, safety
glasses, hard hat
- Arizona driver's license and acceptable driving record upon
hire
- Per the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), BioWatch
Technicians need to be U.S. citizens of the United States of
America and are required to successfully complete a DHS background
check
- BioWatch participants must pass a health physical and OSHA
respirator certification within six months of hire and on a yearly
basis thereafter; if an emergent need arises, Air Instrument
Associate staff not identified as BioWatch may be sent for a
physical
- Air Instrument Associates must complete certification in the
USEPA 40-Hour Hazardous Materials Incident Response Operation
Course within one year of hire date Selection Procedure
