Job Description:

The Estimator is responsible for quoting and estimating projects to maximize safety, quality, and profits for WPI.

Job specifics include but are not limited to:

Comply with all Company policies and procedures.

Establish and build a relationship with our client before bidding work.

Review all contract documents when bidding on a project.

Review contract language, scope of work, and special provisions in the contract. Make sure project team members are aware of these items.

Read the specifications before submitting a bid or confirm no specifications are available by reviewing the quotation letter.

Review all estimates and accompanying forms with at least one other person before submitting a bid.

Use the WPI scope letter template as a starting point and checklist for all bids. Do not use a modified scope letter to initiate a bid.

Involve the Pre-Construction Manager and CAD Manager / Detailer.

Discuss field productions, wage rates, and required travel per diem with the General Superintendent before submitting a bid.

Get material and subcontractor quotes from at least three (3) separate vendors using Quickbid eQuotes. Lock-in pricing after the job has been awarded.

Write a synopsis of the job clarifying the scope of work and all agreements made with the general contractor.

Maintain a bid log of your jobs. Enter quotes and update when won or lost.

After securing a job, review the scope and verify all agreements made with the client. Confirm the contract amount matches Quickbid. Review scopes with specialty departments and address all related questions.

Hand over job file and summary to the Project Manager. Thoroughly engage in project handoff.

Clarify "thrown-in" or negotiated items with the Project Manager during project setup.

Identify non-typical material included in the estimate with the Project Manager during project setup.

Verify the original budget has been agreed upon by all parties before it is entered into Vista.

Attend major project walks at 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%.

Support, educate, mentor, and develop future leaders.
