Basic QualificationsBachelor's degree in a related specialized area or the equivalent is required plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.J-STD_001, 002, IPC 610, MIL-STD-883, or NASA std's certification may be required within 30 days of hireResponsibilities for this PositionGeneral Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) has an opening for a Quality Specialist to join our team in Scottsdale, AZ. The position provides an opportunity to work on projects that support some of our nation's fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES & TASKS:

The Quality Specialist will report directly to the West Region EHS & Management Systems Operations Manager. Specific responsibilities will include:



  • Ensure compliance with relevant Quality Management System (QMS) standards (ISO 9001 / AS9100) and guidelines related to quality management. Develop, review, improve and maintain the company's QMS certifications by:
  • Leading ISO 9001 and AS9100 internal audits including planning audit activities (coordination and scheduling), generating audit reports, reporting results, and follow up
  • Monitoring QMS effectiveness through timely reporting of internal and external quality metrics/objectives and all applicable QMS documentation and data as well as collecting, reviewing, and reporting data on all non-conformances
  • Maintaining corrective / preventive action processes; monitoring on-time resolution of corrective actions from audits and nonconformities and reports status; completing verification actions to ensure effectiveness for all corrective / preventive actions
  • Providing new ideas and methods to improve QMS processes
  • Engaging and collaborating with stakeholders to develop a culture of continuously improving performance

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



    • Working knowledge of the ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality management systems is a core requirement
    • Strong experience in auditing to the ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards is required
    • Proactive mindset in coordinating all QMS audits (Internal and Registrar) in collaboration with the GDMS Quality organization
    • Not required but a plus - Capable of performing Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) management systems audits (ISO 14001 / OHSAS 18001) and / or overseeing EHS programs
    • Highly effective interpersonal communication skills required
    • Highly effective written skills, including the ability to create and update documentation including audit reports, procedures, presentations, and training materials
    • Evidence of continuous improvement efforts that have positively impacted programs, preferably across large organizations
    • Ability to meet deadlines, multi-task effectively, and deal professionally with internal customers and co-workers
    • Strong leadership, time management, and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
    • Strong and effective computer skills, including ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, including a working knowledge of creating, accessing, and managing documents in a SharePoint environment
    • This position requires travel across the GDMS portfolio, 30%-40% of the time, to conduct and support Management Systems audits
