The Visual Design Lead for Design DNA is a vital role to this future state by helping our Digital Product Design team reimaging how people interface with Ford vehicles - through the visual design of the in-vehicle experience, as well as connected devices and mobile applications.---Grounded in an understanding of user needs, we will conceive, design, prototype, and launch experiences that bind together physical products, digital services and human interactions.------ We prefer to have our Visual Design Lead onsite a few days/ week in our Palo Alto office but are open to fully remote candidates.
What you'll do---



  • Work with leadership across Digital Product Design (DPD) and Design DNA to establish and codify the "Look & Feel" of the Ford and Lincoln digital experiences


  • Help to define and guide teams in standards for the visual design, including the development of the visual design guidelines/standards for DPD


  • Work with design and research teams across the organization to identify visual design approach throughout the Digital Product Design process


  • Lead the development of "exemplar" work product in the area of visual design


  • Work across teams to steward visual design excellence, ensuring the highest level of craft across all design deliverables


  • Participate in design reviews, providing guidance, and constructive feedback in service of delivering world-class products and experiences


  • Maintain constant awareness of emerging talent needs in the craft of visual design to ensure we are fulfilling those needs


  • Manage communication with internal colleagues and stakeholders


  • Invest in the growth of teams' visual design capabilities by supporting the learning and development of the team



    You'll have---


    • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Digital Product Design or related field---or a combination of education and equivalent experience


    • 6+ years' experience developing visual design systems for consumer-facing brands/products and software


    • 6+ years' experience leading highly collaborative creative teams


      Even better, you may have...


      • Master's Degree in Graphic Design, Digital Product Design, or related field.


      • Experience of working closely with multi-disciplinary product teams comprised of researchers, designers, product managers and engineers


      • Experience of utilizing design thinking and/or human-centered design


      • Passionate about brand and digital product design


      • Extensive experience designing digital design experiences for key touch points across the customer journey


      • Extensive experience developing brand guidelines and/or standards for user interfaces; including color, typography, iconography, imagery and all GUI elements


      • Experience of developing digital services and bringing products or services to market---


      • Experience mentoring and/or managing others in the visual design field


      • Experience of designing and/or facilitating concept generation work sessions


      • Passionate about automotive and transportation industry---


      • Extremely strong verbal, written---and visual presentation skills---
