Summary
Location-Based Role: This position requires employees to work at the APS Deer Valley location.
Hours: 8pm-6am - 4x10 schedule - rotational weekend coverage
The Network Operations Center Operator 1 p rovides day-to-day system surveillance and basic troubleshooting of issues and alarms within APS Network Operations Center, maximizing system performance and availability while maintaining regulatory compliance and internal process and performs initial technical evaluation of system issues and outages as they occur across customer enterprise networks.
Major Accountabilities



  • Advise users on appropriate actions, redirecting problems to appropriate resources


  • Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention


  • Track and route problems and requests, and document resolutions within appropriate work management tools


  • First point of contact for the customer with impact on the end-user's experience and satisfaction


  • Follows established guidelines and procedures


  • Assigned routine issues with supervision


  • Monitors IT infrastructure in a 24x7 network operation center


  • Recognize and respond to faults and alarms


  • Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues by analyzing error codes and using knowledge of operating system internals, network operating systems, LAN/WAN infrastructure components, scripting techniques and solid problem isolation/resolution methodologies


  • Performing level one triage by following standard help desk procedures and researching questions using available information resources


  • 3rd shift work with rotational scheduled coverage of weekends (8pm to 6am)


    Minimum Requirements


    • High school diploma and 1 year of prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and directly related experience


    • Requires basic knowledge of related IT systems and procedures


    • Knowledge of data network infrastructure, networking, application integration, integration services and/or maintenance/support in a focused technical area


    • Technical knowledge of multi-platform LAN/WAN distributed and/or mainframe systems.


    • Good analytical, problem solving, troubleshooting and customer service and communications skills.


    • May require the ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.


    • Ability to work 4x10 hour shift schedule, including weekend coverage

      Flex Role:
      This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present. Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work. Employees will have two options to choose from:


      • APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.


      • Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.


        *Employees in Flex roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
