As a Lead - Quality First Assessor, you will assist the Quality First Assessment Supervisor in planning and implementation of Quality First Assessment services. Primary duties:

  • Mentors, trains and assists in maintaining reliability of assessors, review of assessments and other tasks as designated by the Program Manager or Department Director.
  • Conducts inter-rater reliability checks with assessors in selected early child care and education settings according to sampling guidelines (every 10 assessments per tool) to ensure inter-rater reliability, consistency and accuracy, and maintain 85% reliability.
  • Offers technical assistance to assessors scoring less than 85% on inter-rater reliability checks.
  • Follows agency and statutory reporting policy and procedures as a mandated reporter, which includes a timely response to incidents, notification of supervisor and use of the SWHD Critical Incident form.
  • Attends community meetings informing and educating the community of program(s) while advocating as necessary for quality childcare in Arizona. Qualifications:
    • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in early childhood education, child or family development, social services or related field is required.
    • Minimum of five years experience working as a teacher, trainer, or primary care provider in an early care and education setting with infants, toddlers and/or preschoolers.
    • Must have reliable transportation and valid Arizona driver's license.
    • Ability to travel statewide is required.
    • Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card preferred OR must qualify for a valid Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
    • Knowledge in the following areas is preferred: o Training, coaching, mentoring or supervision with individuals or groups in early care and education settings o Child development o Early childhood education o ADHS and DES child care regulations o Indicators of quality in early care and education settings o Curriculum and assessment in early childhood settings including ECERS-R, ITERS-R, FCCERS-R and CLASS o Arizona Early Learning Standards o Adult learning theory o Community resources o Computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite Southwest Human Development ("SWHD") takes the health and safety of our employees and the communities we serve very seriously.
