Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARYThe Counselor will be in charge with assisting
patients through medically assisting treatments and offering
techniques for handling Opioid Use Disorder. Counselor conducts
individual sessions and group sessions to assist with treatment
plan and coping strategies. Counselor will evaluate patients
progress during counseling and collaborate with tx team to assist
the patients achieving overall outcome.PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITES-
Responsible for maintaining and managing a caseload in compliance
with regulatory standards and ratios.- As applicable by
location/state may provide relevant substance use information for
class curriculum- Facilitates and co-facilitates didactic
educational presentations, group counseling, and individual
counseling sessions.- May include family and natural supports in
the client s treatment, per the client s preference- Maintains and
applies knowledge of new developments in the field of substance use
as required by specific state licensure.- Maintains a collegian
relationship with other substance use professionals, programs, and
associations.- Completes comprehensive behavioral health
assessments and individualized treatment plans, ensuring compliance
with regulatory requirements and unique client needs.- Clinical
staffing and oversight required.- Continuously evaluates the
effectiveness of treatment through the ongoing assessment of the
client and his/her natural supports that may result in modification
to the service plan, as necessary.- Ensures coordination of care
out of the area, out of the state or out of the Arizona system
prior to discontinuation of services.- Maintains a thorough and
comprehensive client record.- Provides individual/group/family
therapy utilizing an array of Evidenced Based Practices and aimed
at addressing the patient s unique needs.- Collaborates with the
client and his/her natural supports to complete a comprehensive
intake assessment.- Collaborates with the client and his/her
natural supports to implement an effective service plan, takes time
to explain the available clinical options to the client and his/her
natural supports and identifies the advantages and disadvantages of
the options.- Serves as the point of contact for coordination and
communication with other systems where clinical knowledge of the
case is crucial.- Assists in screening and coordinating primary
care services for clients.- Participates in related training for
substance use.- Must complete prompt and through documentation.-
Performs other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:Education,
Certification and Experience Requirements- Certification of CPR and
First Aid Training- Bachelor s Degree in Behavioral Health field
(Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work) plus one (1) year of
full-time behavioral health experience & Motor Vehicle Valid
state-issued driver's license and MVR clearance is required. Three
years of driving experience is required. A 39-month MVR is required
for you to have at the time of your interview.- May need to be
licensed professional at the independent level, designated by the
state s governance over licensure; Licensed at the Associate level
required i.e. LAC, LASAC, LAMFT, LMSW, or equivalent.- Good
academic and working knowledge of DSM V, community resources,
psychotropic medications, crisis intervention, clinical methods and
procedures, intervention techniques and ability to apply same to
possibly unstable, treatment resistant adult/adolescent/child of
various ethnic cultures for co-occurring disorders (GMH/SA/SMI). To
include one year of training in clinical programming in a
behavioral health setting- Knowledge of behavioral management,
de-escalation methods, crisis intervention, and defusing techniques
to prevent violent behavior harmful to self or others and the
ability to apply these techniques to a client population in various
levels of crisis.- Basic knowledge of computers and Microsoft
Office.- Ability to perform duties with a minimum of supervision.-
Experience working with multi-cultural and low socio-economic
individuals.- General knowledge & aptitude for working
independently with adults of mixed ethnic groups.- Bilingual
(English/Spanish) speaking preferredTools and Equipment
Requirements- The ability to use a phone, computer, printer, and
copier is required.- Frequent use of Microsoft Office products,
including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.-
Frequent use of Electronic Health Record- The ability to use the
internet and various web browser software is required.Physical
Working Conditions and Office Setting Description- Requires sitting
and standing associated with a normal office environment.- Manual
dexterity using computer keyboard.- Requires prolonged sitting,
standing, frequent bending, stooping, or stretching.- Some lifting
may be required.- Frequent and prolonged typing and frequent and
prolonged operation of computer, keyboard, and telephones
required.- Requires occasional use of fax machines, telephones,
copiers, and other office equipment.- Employee must regularly lift
and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25
pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Other
