Job Description:
The Imports Operations Supervisor will be responsible for
supporting the seamless flow and tracking of inventory from foreign
port of export to U.S. port of destination with focus on operations
support, staff development, well-organized work flow, operating
systems and regulatory compliance. Supervisor must be able to
support and partner with Trade Compliance, Global Sourcing,
International Logistics, Security, Transportation, Distribution
Centers, Accounting and Finance to assist in resolution of compound
issues in time-sensitive situations.
The Imports Operations Supervisor will manage a team of Imports
Specialists and supervise the tracking of inventory and customs
brokerage functions including collection of shipping documentation,
importer security filings (ISF), entry writing, payment of duties
and fees, release of goods, post-entry adjustments, data
transaction processing and recordkeeping thereof.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee the daily collection and prioritization of pre-entry data,
including ISF and import documentation packets as well as reports
from logistics service providers.
Organize and support data transaction processing for logical
tracking in Oracle and for ISF and entry filing through the
automated broker's interface, including updates and correction of
data as needed.
Distribute workload fairly and evenly.
Responsible for timely and accurate customs entries, proper
valuation of invoices, proper preparations and upload of entry
and/or participating government documents as required, and
coordination for inspection and examinations of cargo obtaining
Customs release and other government agency releases as
appropriate.
Resolve and monitor operational issues such as cargo holds and
cargo discrepancies; implement corrective action when needed.
Review and monitor all CBP entry rejects, requests for information
and entry resolution requests.
Reconcile discrepancies in all systems including post-entry
adjustments, overages and shortages.
Validate Customs daily and monthly payment of Customs duties and
fees.
Ensure the payable and receivable documents are completed
accurately and forwarded timely.
Implement best operational practices and recommend solutions to
improve efficiency.
Update all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to implement and
improve process changes.
Escalate any unresolved issues or risks before they materially
impact the company.
Collaborate with supply chain partners to identify issues; provide
feedback to improve vendor and service provider compliance in
timeliness and accuracy of import documents and data.
Manage staff to relevant and actionable metrics providing feedback
on a regular basis.
Perform audits and analysis of key performance indicators.
Monitor staff training needs; identify and develop training
objectives.
Conduct regular staff meetings; emphasize core principles and
communicate department goals.
Keep updated on all US Customs bulletins for operational
updates.
Additional projects and tasks as assigned by Imports Manager or
Imports Director.
Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.

Requirements :
Job Qualifications - Education and Experience
Active Customs Brokerage License is preferred
Bachelor degree is preferred
4-5 years of Customs Brokerage and imports experience
Minimum 2 years of experience in a lead role within a Customs
Brokerage or Imports team
Capacity of operating high volumes transactions while
multi-tasking
Capability to work with demanding deadlines
Detail oriented, thorough and accurate and have the ability to
efficiently solve problems
Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems quickly and
effectively
Adequate knowledge of commodity classifications, import tariffs,
regulations (including participating government agencies
requirements) and processes
Proficient in Microsoft Office and technical familiarity with U.S.
Customs automated brokers interface including the related
systems/applications
Physical Requirements
General office environment requiring ability to:
stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time
speak and listen to others in person and over the phone
use keyboard and read from computer screen and reports
lift up to 15 lbs.
