What You Will Be Doing

As part of the Underwriting Team, you will be a liaison between underwriting, operations and our sales team. You must have current Mortgage Underwriting experience in order to qualify for the role. The position is classified as full time/non-exempt. Remote work arrangements will be considered.

Candidates must be self-motivated with strong attention to detail and be results driven. Customer service, organization, and effective problem solving skills are fundamental for the position. Ability to work in a fast pace environment balancing file review, responding to emails and audits. The position will have a heavy focus on mortgage loan approval procedures and loan risk assessment.

Responsibilities: include but are not limited and may vary depending on the needs of the department:

Review loan applications from processors for underwriting to all Agency Guidelines and Investor Overlays.

Ability to review and research guidelines for both Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae FHA, VA, USDA, Bond Agencies and Investors.

Verify and calculate all income types

Verify and validate all assets used in transaction.

Review and validate all credit reports

Review disclosures for completeness and compliance

Review Appraisals and Titles

Issues Approval from investor with conditions to the LO & Processor.

Submits conditions to investor for the clear to close.

Issues the clear to close.

Receives conditions from LO & Processor if underwritten in house, reviews and clears the loan to close.

Must have 5 or more years in underwriting experience.

Must have all designations (FHA DE/ VA Credit Authority, etc.)

Knowledge of ATR and QM guidelines

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of three years of residential mortgage underwriting experience

Good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills are necessary for maintaining effective relationships with other department employees and management

Maintaining confidentiality and good business judgment in performing daily duties is required

Effective and polite communication (written and verbal) skills

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
