( Job Number: 351087 ) Description Position Summary:
The Benefits Specialist/ADA Consultant -will work closely with the
employee, healthcare provider and employer to explore workplace
accommodations that will assist the employee in performing the
essential functions of their job.
The primary purpose of the ADA Consultant is to analyze a
claimant's request for medical accommodations, to review medical
information and make a determination for approval of a claimant's
request for a job modification or accommodation in order to support
a return to work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluates requests for accommodations and provides consultation
for the accommodation under the ADA
- Responsible for communicating with and engaging employees,
medical professionals, supervisors, and Human Resources to assist
employees with disabilities who require workplace
accommodations
- Document the employee's request for accommodation and
facilitate the interactive process between the employee and their
employer to determine the most effective accommodation
- Work with the employer and Human Resources to educate and
implement job modifications/accommodations for the employee
- Engage with medical providers to clarify and validate the
request for accommodation
- Assist employers with development of essential job function
descriptions as required
- Stay current on both state and federal laws and regulations
surrounding the ADA and other relevant legislation
- Provide ADA specific education to employers and employees
- Responsible and accountable for maintaining and protecting
personal health information Must maintain a high level of
confidentiality and abide by HIPPA rules and regulationsOther

Qualifications Education, Qualifications and Experience:
- BS/BA in Vocational Rehabilitation or similar field
preferred
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: RTW Services,
Labor Relations, Absence Management, Disability Claims Management,
Project Management
- Experience with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and
familiarity with FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act).
- Good technical knowledge of claims management procedures
regarding return to work or job accommodations
- Effective analytical, problem solving and interpretive
skills
- Attention to detail and sound facilitation skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills to include
presentation skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and meet assigned
deadlines
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to
prioritize work and multi-taskBasic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from accredited university or equivalent
experience.
- 2-3 years of related experience, to include previous work in a
leave of absence and/or disability claim management role
- Knowledge of federal or state leave and disability regulations,
specifically ADA and FMLA
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and
PowerPointPreferred Qualifications
- Experience working multiple projects or cases independently in
environment with changing priorities
- Experience working with confidential information and using
discretion
- SPHR, PHR, or CPDM certifications, or equivalent
- Experience with the application and interpretation of Americans
with Disability Act (ADA), Section 504, Family Medical Leave Act
(FMLA) and other federal, state and local laws and regulations
governing disability & medical procedures strongly preferred
- Strong problem solving, time management and priority setting
skills
- Experience providing guidance to employees or managers on leave
of absence, disability plans, medical accommodations, and benefits
