Responsibilities
This position reports to the Director of Nursing Operations. The manager will participate as a member of the hospital's management team in planning, policy formulation, and administrative decision making with particular reference to the role, functions, and operations of the hospital's nursing support services. In summary, is responsible to assist the Director in daily management of staffing office, float pool, patient placement, and traveler coordinator.


  • Monitor quality improvement projects for trends to facilitate continual high quality services.
  • Assists with the appropriate nursing Director any variances in staffing and recommendations for solutions to the variance.
  • Coordinates projected staffing needs for the week with the staffing coordinators at St Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center for proper distribution of float pool RNs.
  • Coordinates the work schedules for staff that are under the Director of Nursing Support.
  • Fills responsibility of Administrative liaison in absence of Director of Nursing Support Services.
  • Works in collaboration with the charge nurses to ensure smooth operation of staffing office.
  • Collects required data; maintains the data and submits the data when required and actively works on performanceimprovement metrics/projects.
  • System administrator of staffing/acuity system to ensure proper functions and acuity based staffing.
  • Works on improvement committees as assigned.
  • Proactively addresses daily operational issues in a positive way and in collaboration with other hospital departments.
  • Provides leadership and direction to SJHMC Float Pool nursing personnel in accordance with nursing and administrative policies.
  • Works with education to ensure Nursing support/float pool staff are in compliance with job requirements.
  • Provides assistance in annual evaluation process for Nursing support staff and Float Pool.


    Qualifications
    Minimum Education and Experience:

    • Bachelors Degree or a combination of education and/or additional job related experience may be substituted in lieu of the degree.
    • Two (2) years supervisory experience.
    • Minimum of three (3) years experience in related field.

      Required Licensure:

      • Current AZ RN License.
      • Current ACLS Provider card; CT ACLS.
      • Current BLS Healthcare Provider card; CPRBLS.

        Special Skills Required:

        • Knowledge of hospital administrative, operational and nursing regulations, and how to apply to nursing practice.
        • Strong knowledge in staffing of nursing resources and transfer center processes.
        • InterQual trained preferred.
        • Good communication skills, ability to organize, act and make decisions in a timely manner.

          Preferred Qualifications:

          • 3 years experience in management.
          • ICU experience.
          • Master's degree.
          • Word Processing skills including Google Workspace.
