A critical care nursing opportunity is available for experienced RNs in a step-down unit specializing in cardiovascular and surgical patient care. This contract position requires a strong foundation in progressive care with acute expertise in cardiac monitoring and post-surgical recovery. Responsibilities: - Provide acute care nursing for patients undergoing cardiovascular and surgical procedures within a 14-bed progressive care unit (PCU). - Monitor patients using advanced cardiac technologies including Philips Cardiac Monitors, Medtronic Pacemakers, Zoll R series defibrillators, and invasive monitoring devices. - Administer IV cardiac medications and manage complex patient equipment such as PCA pumps, chest tubes, arterial/venous sheath care, and peritoneal dialysis. - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including hospitalists managing PCU patients. - Float to ICU and Medical-Surgical/Telemonitoring units as needed, with competencies in arterial line management and sheath pulling. - Maintain rigorous documentation using Cerner EMR and utilize Pyxis medication dispensing systems. Qualifications and Experience: - RN with at least 1 year of progressive care unit experience. - Proficient in EKG interpretation and cardiac medication administration. - Skilled in management of chronic ventilated patients, epidural catheters, transvenous pacing. - Active, unrestricted Arizona nursing license. - Current ACLS and BLS certification. - Successful completion of a dysrhythmia exam is required prior to contract signing. Schedule: - 12-hour shifts (7A-7P or 7P-7A), 3 shifts per week. - Flexible option for 4 shifts weekly upon agreement. Additional Details: - Nurse-to-patient ratio is approximately 1:3-4 based on acuity. - Professional dress code: navy scrubs and business-appropriate hair color. - Candidates must comply with radius and employment restrictions related to local healthcare systems.
