Job Description Job Description Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Orientation and Mobility or Special Education, Certification as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS), and 1 years Orientation and Mobility Specialist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. This position is for an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) serving K-12 students in a full-time capacity. The role involves providing specialized support to enhance the independence and safety of visually impaired students within the school environment. Location: Mesa, AZ Job Type: Contract, Current School Year (CSY) Schedule: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week Duration: Immediate start through May 21, 2026 Client Setting: K-12 School Key Responsibilities: Assess and develop orientation and mobility skills for students with visual impairments Deliver individualized instruction to promote safe and effective navigation in school and community settings Collaborate with educators, families, and support staff to create tailored mobility plans Monitor student progress and adapt strategies to meet evolving needs Maintain accurate records and comply with all educational regulations and best practices Qualifications: National Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) Certification required ACVREP certification preferred Experience providing O&M services to K-12 student populations Strong communication and collaboration skills Knowledge of current orientation and mobility techniques and assistive technologies Benefits and Perks: Opportunity to impact the lives of students in a dynamic educational environment Support from a professional staffing agency throughout the contract Access to ongoing professional development and resources Employment in this role supports the critical development of independence for visually impaired students.
