Job Description:
Job Summary and Responsibilities The Norton Thoracic Institute
at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center is seeking an
Intensivist for the Cardiothoracic ICU (CICU). This critical care
position provides advanced medical care for the hospitalized
patients in the CICU. Successful candidates will be expected to
provide exceptional patient care in a multidisciplinary setting in
the CICU, demonstrate teamwork with midlevel providers and increase
academic productivity. This ICU will have a mix of cardiovascular
surgical, thoracic/esophageal surgical and cardiac patients.
Experience and or interest in managing patients with advanced
circulatory support devices (VA and VV ECMO, Impellas, Protech
Duos, balloon pumps etc.) is essential. Advanced training in ECMO
cannulation and participation in a “Cardiovascular Shock Team” will
be part of the skill set which will be incorporated in this
practice. We will offer hands-on training and education to those
who are dedicated and interested in state-of-the-art care to
patients requiring Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS). St.
Joseph’s Hospital & Medical Center is affiliated with Creighton
University School of Medicine, Phoenix Campus and faculty
appointments are available as well as research, quality improvement
and patient advocacy opportunities. Job Requirements MD or DO
Degree and Board Certification Completed ACGME Residency training
with current ABMS Board Certification Completed ACGME Fellowship
training with current (or eligible) ABMS Board Certification in
Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine or Critical Care Medicine
Ability to achieve full and unrestricted hospital/surgical
privileges at Dignity Health Arizona hospitals Must obtain Arizona
State medical licensure prior to starting the position HEC Where
You'll Work The Norton Thoracic Institute is a premier organization
with one of the leading lung transplant programs in the country.
