your future. Responsibilities The Department of Laboratory Medicine
and Pathology at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona is recruiting a
doctoral scientist or physician to serve as an Assistant or
Associate Director of the Histocompatibility (HLA) Laboratory. The
state-of-the-art HLA Laboratory supports the largest solid organ
transplant program in the USA and a large hematopoietic stem cell
transplant program. In this regard, in 2024, the Mayo Clinic in
Arizona performed 908 solid organ transplants (525 kidneys, 317
livers, 40 hearts, and 25 pancreases) and 177 hematopoietic stem
cell transplants (103 autologous and 74 allogeneic). The successful
candidate will work with the HLA Director and Associate Directors
to oversee the HLA Laboratory activities, including new clinical
test development and implementation, quality improvement and
accreditation processes, and on-call coverage and consultation to
the transplant programs. The successful candidate will be expected
to contribute to the mission of Mayo Clinic through participation
in patient care, clinical/translational research, and teaching to
institutional trainees. This position includes an academic
appointment with the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine.
Qualifications • Hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in a chemical,
physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, a Doctor of
Clinical Laboratory Science (DCLS) degree, and/or a medical degree
(M.D. or D.O.) from an accredited institution • Be certified (or
eligible) by the American College of Histocompatibility and
Immunogenetics (ACHI) or equivalent board approved by the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and/or be certified
(or eligible) in clinical or combined anatomic/clinical pathology
by the American Board of Pathology • Be certified (or eligible) by
the American College of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics
(ACHI) in the following areas of accreditation: 1. Solid Organ
Transplantation: Live Donor 2. Solid Organ Transplantation:
Deceased Donor 3. Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation: Related
Donor 4. Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation: Unrelated Donor •
Exceptional Directors in Training (DIT) who have completed at least
2 years in a formal training program in clinical histocompatibility
and immunogenetics are encouraged to apply • Have a publication
track record in the fields of transplant immunology,
histocompatibility, and/or immunogenetics
