Job Title: Nurse Abstractor Profession: RN Specialty: Staff Augmentation Duration: 36 Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of applicable clinical experience, Behavioral Health preferred License: Registered Nurse Clinical Licensure (RN) Certifications: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Public Health, Behavioral Health, or a related field Must-Have: - Knowledge of suicide prevention frameworks, behavioral health systems, and social determinants of health - Strong written and analytical skills with attention to detail - Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise narratives - Cultural humility and sensitivity in working with diverse populations - Familiarity with medical and behavioral health terminology - Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication within a multidisciplinary remote team Description: The Nurse Abstractor supports the Suicide Mortality Review Program by abstracting, organizing, and synthesizing data from multiple sources related to suicide deaths. This role involves collecting and synthesizing comprehensive data to create accurate, de-identified case narratives for committee review. The Nurse Abstractor will review, extract, and summarize data from various records, identifying and documenting key life circumstances, system interactions, and risk and protective factors related to the decedent's experience. Comprehensive, de-identified case summaries are developed for multidisciplinary committee review. The position requires adherence to trauma-informed and culturally responsive principles to honor the individual’s story and context. All data must be entered into secure databases while complying with relevant privacy requirements. Collaboration with team members to prioritize cases and prepare materials for review meetings is essential. Maintaining strict confidentiality of all case materials and adhering to applicable protocols and regulations is required.
