Job Summary and Responsibilities We are seeking a dedicated
profession to join our team! Dignity Health at St. Joseph’s
Hospital and Medical Center (SJHMC) in alignment with the Dignity
Health Cancer Institute (DHCI), Dignity Health Medical Group
(DHMG), and Creighton School of Medicine is seeking a Hepatobiliary
and Pancreatic (HBP) Surgeon. Our disease-site specific,
comprehensive, multidisciplinary cancer program continues to grow
in volume, programs and clinical trials. Our academic involvement
with the Creighton University Arizona Health Education Alliance
residency programs also continues to grow. This position will
partner with the newly appointed Chief of Surgical Oncology and the
Chair of the Surgery Department. The surgeon will play a role in
the development of HPB Surgery, Surgical Oncology, and the newly
formed Digestive Disease Institute (DDI), including the
multidisciplinary pancreas program. The surgeon will foster and
facilitate the growth of appropriate clinical trials, facilitate
the achievement of the DHCI, DHMG, SJHMC, and CommonSpirit Health
(CSH) goals and quality initiatives and performance improvement
projects, and other local and national efforts as requested. The
surgeon will participate in the appropriate tumor boards. The
surgeon may be asked to participate in recruitment and hiring of
team members as needed. HEC Job Requirements The successful

interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills Shows evidence
of a successful clinical practice Has teaching and clinical trial
experience Focuses on quality and standards of care Works
collaboratively with other specialties Is dedicated to delivering
high quality, compassionate care and access to the patients of
Phoenix and rural Arizona Must have or be eligible for an
unrestricted Arizona State medical licensure Ability to achieve
full and unrestricted hospital/surgical privileges at Dignity
Health Arizona hospitals Acceptable references from supervisor,
peer, and subordinate; from a registered nurse; and potentially
from a research mentor Willing to abide by and promote the Mission,

Dignity Health Cancer Institute is a 10 year old, beautiful,
220,000 s.f., dedicated outpatient oncology facility located on the
Phoenix Biomedical Campus. The Campus is less than 2 miles from St.
Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, in the heart of Phoenix, AZ.
Other residents of the Phoenix Biomed Campus include The University
of Arizona, Arizona State University, Translational Genomics and a
host of biomedical startup companies. DHCI offers comprehensive
oncology services including dedicated disease-site specialists for
Breast, GYN, GI, HPB, GU, Thoracic, Head & Neck, Melanoma & soft
tissue Sarcoma and Supportive Care/Survivorship services. The
Cancer Institute services also include Infusion, Radiation,
Diagnostic Imaging, Interventional Radiology, Endoscopy, Genetic
Counseling, Social Work, Clinical Nutrition and Sexual Health after
Cancer services. SJHMC is a 571-bed, not-for-profit hospital that
provides a wide range of health, social and support services.
