Job Description:
Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse)

Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: At least 1 year of experience
in an ICU setting Description: Unit/Department Float Pool includes
ICU, MedSurg Tele, and PCU. Inpatients may be held in the emergency
department. Nurse-patient ratios are 1:4 in PCU and 1:5-6 in
MedSurg Tele. Common diagnoses include geriatric, orthopedic, and
post-procedural patients. Nurses will care for patients
post-myocardial infarction, post-cardiac catheterization, and CABG
post-op day 3-4. RNs are required to titrate drips, including
Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and
Insulin. Traveling nurses must be comfortable managing the majority
of these drips. Each unit has a charge nurse who does not take
assignments. Nurse aids are utilized in all settings. Respiratory
equipment includes CPAP and BiPAP in MedSurg. BiPAP, CPAP, and
heated high flow are available in PCU. Monitor technicians are
responsible for monitoring telemetry in some units. RNs must be
able to interpret strips. Scheduling is done six weeks in advance,
published every four weeks. Traveling nurses will need to be
flexible with scheduling. Weekend work is required every other
weekend. Travelers will be included in the permanent staff holiday
rotation. There is a call or standby requirement during shifts with
excessive staffing. Assignments are communicated two hours prior to
the start of the shift via text message. The distance between
campuses is approximately 20-25 minutes. Professional scrubs are
required, with a shift to navy scrubs occurring in October.
