Job DescriptionRegistered Nurse Contract to Start Shifts: Days, Nights or weekends As a Registered Nurse (RN) for Correctional Health Services, you will work in partnership with Maricopa County Sheriff's Detention Officers to provide healthcare to patients inside the Maricopa County Jails. Our nurses are engaged, lifelong learners who believe in a culture of collaboration, communication, and a team approach to quality patient care. You will respond daily to the medical needs and provide necessary continuity of care that may emerge during a patient's stay in the county jail system. A minimum commitment of 36 hours per week is required. Preference is given to candidates who can work nights and weekends. Skills Required ---Provides assessments and implements appropriate nursing interventions ---Monitors patient's progress as appropriate and evaluates outcomes ---Performs standard nursing procedures appropriate to patient needs ---Completes and processes all required documentation, including plans and discharge planning, in a comprehensive, objective, and legible manner ---Provides health-related education to patients as appropriate to patient needs ---Administers medication and addresses other pharmacological needs as protocol dictates and performs basic intravenous and phlebotomy skills as required ---Participates in orientation and training of new employees, contract staff, students, and others needed ---Functions as a unit charge nurse as required. Working Conditions: ---Must be able to work inside a jail ---Must be able to respond to emergencies ---Must maintain current BLS/CPR certification and get on the floor to perform CPR/chest compressions, push medical equipment, climb stairs, lift patients on a gurney that may weigh up to 35 pounds Skills Preferred Experience Required 1 year Experience Preferred Two (2) or more years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a Medical/Surgical, ER, Urgent Care, or Psychiatric setting Education Required ---Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing ---A valid, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing ---Current Basic Life Support/CPR and First Aid certification #LI-FRESH
