The Shared Services Support - Medical Assistant is responsible for providing patient support and communication over the phone and facilitating an exceptional patient experience to build and reinforce satisfaction, trust, and drive organizational loyalty.

How You Can Make a Difference

  • Answer and return patient phone calls in a call center environment
  • Work in collaboration with providers and their care team to provide the highest quality of care delivery by ensuring all medication requests are answered and processed promptly and accordingly based on the practices guidelines
  • Perform Virtual Rooming for telemedicine visits when needed
  • Perform appointment scheduling for provider office visits, telemedicine visits, and/or LAB/Nurse Visit appointments when needed
  • Coordinate patient care information related to medication refills with other health care providers and teams and perform patient medication refill requests when appropriate
  • Provides patient information regarding provider reviewed diagnostic test results including delivering providers instructions to patient
  • Provides other healthcare providers and facilities with physician/diagnostic test orders and patient health information when requested
  • Attend staff meetings and providing input into evaluation of processes and suggestions for improvement
  • Perform electronic medication refills via EMR as delegated by the provider
  • Utilize resources to resolve patient cases

      Experience To Drive Change
      • Ability to work a flexible schedule (some evenings and weekends) required
      • High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution
      • Medical Assistant Certification or MA formal training program required
      • Experience using EMR systems, preferably Athena Health
      • At least 6 months experience with electronic medication refill processing (preferably using Athena Health EMR)
      • Experience in patient appointment scheduling via EMR and utilizing multiple electronic programs and web-based resources
      • Some experience working in a call center preferred
