Position Description
The City of Tolleson is seeking qualified individuals interested in
joining our team as a Process Control Manager- Wastewater. The
position will be primarily assigned to the Tolleson Wastewater
Treatment Plant, which currently uses approximately half of its
17.5 MGD rated capacity. The Process Control Manager provides
leadership and guidance to O&M staff in order to increase the
effectiveness and efficiency of plant operation; Reviews laboratory
results to make process decisions; Supervises, oversees, and
participates in the technical operation and maintenance of
water/wastewater treatment staff, plants, equipment, and
facilities, including routine sampling and maintenance. Resolves
complex issues escalated by staff; Identifies critical pieces of
equipment and helps coordinate repair or replacement as needed;
Researches, develops, and leverages new process techniques and
technologies in order to maintain an efficient treatment operation;
Identifies and recommends future system and process improvements
necessary to meet increases in potable water demands and wastewater
flows; Reviews comprehensive analytical reports and provides
detailed information and recommendations; Conducts technical
in-service training for employees on all aspects of process control
within the treatment facilities; Provides advice on future system
improvements deemed necessary; Prepares technical reports as
necessary; Writes Requests For Proposal (RFPs) and Invitation For
Bids (IFBs) on projects; and, Performs related work as
assigned.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED, supplemented by college, technical,
and/or vocational coursework and 5 years progressively responsible
experience in a water/wastewater treatment plant; or an equivalent
combination of directly related education and experience.
Applicants must possess and maintain a Valid ADEQ Grade 4
Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification, within 6 months of
start date. Valid Arizona Class D Driver License required.
Additional Information
Position requires: Working in mechanical, biological, chemicals,
and respiratory hazards; Working in noise and vibration
environments; Occasionally performing manual labor which includes
seasonal extreme temperatures; Working weekends, evenings, nights,
holidays, overtime and emergency call-outs as needed; May require
staying past scheduled shift as needed; May require working in
confined spaces; Use of SCBA and other personal protective
equipment; and, be available by phone and responsive to the staff,
both on and off duty.

Physical Demands
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing,
stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing,
walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling,
talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Medium: Exerting 20-50 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or
up to 10 lbs. constantly.
Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical
currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation,
chemicals, oils, blood and other bodily fluids, and extreme
temperatures.
Job Information
Closing Date: Open until filled Hiring Salary: $83,087.80 -
$103,859.74 D.O.E.
Full salary range for position: $83,087.80 - $124,631.69
