Program Manager



Under the direction of the Chief of Staff, designated VP or Director, develop, implement and administer programs associated with tolls and citations which require production knowledge and system experience. Evaluate the profitability and efficiency of the programs and recommend or initiate the necessary alterations to meet changing conditions. Plan and direct the execution of specialized strategies and activities related to the assigned programs.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (Note: Essential duties are not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary).



1. Reasonable and predictable attendance is essential. 2. Develop, implement, maintain and monitor marketing plans, policies and strategies for assigned programs. 3. Direct the development and implementation of policies, procedures and related instructional and reference materials for assigned programs. 4. Plan and direct the execution of specialized advertising and promotional strategies and activities related to assigned programs. 5. Establish and maintain good business relationships with company presidents and representatives of tolling authorities and jurisdictions. 6. Review the profitability of assigned programs and prepare comprehensive proposals to make additions, deletions or adjustments to the program. 8. Maintain a close working relationship with other Vice Presidents and Program Managers within U-Haul International to insure that proper product balance, emphasis and perspective are maintained. 9. Work closely with Towers Business Units to implement programs. 10. Keep abreast of trends and developments regarding technological innovations, pricing, legislation, consumer demands, customer complaints, industry competition and U-Haul program performance. 11. Take decisive action to modify policies, standards, programs, procedures or strategies as required. 12. Provide technical guidance when needed.



EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: College degree in Business or the equivalent in experience. Knowledge of specialized fields.



EXPERIENCE: 4-5 years



SKILLS/REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/TOOLS: Must have excellent communication skills (verbal and written), organizational and time management skills. Must be detail oriented. Must have U-Haul system and product knowledge. Must possess the aptitude for working in a computerized environment utilizing various software packages and programs. Tools/Machinery: Must be able to operate standard office machinery such as a multi-line telephone, fax machine, photocopier and Personal Computer (PC)



CONTACTS: Daily contact with MCP, ADVP, Vice Presidents, Department Managers and other Program Managers within U-Haul to discuss the development and implementation of programs, policies, procedures and standards. Frequent contact with outside suppliers and manufacturers regarding products and promotions.



WORK ENVIRONMENT (CONDITIONS): Normal office working conditions with occasional exposure to noise, dust, heat and other elements, but none to the extent of being disagreeable.



CONFIDENTIALITY: This position requires regularly working with confidential data: YES Has exposure to proprietary product information such as new design and marketing strategies. Would disclosure of this confidential data be detrimental to the company's competitive position? YES CHARACTER OF SUPERVISION (if any): Does this position require regular supervision of individuals? Yes Is driving a motor vehicle necessary to perform duties? No Is business travel required for this position? No.



MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Mental requirements include, but are not limited to, the ability to concentrate, take initiative, cope with stress, adapt to and stay alert in a business environment, and to use independent judgment to accomplish results.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is sedentary. Typically, the person may sit comfortably to do the work. There may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts; driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. The physical demands MOST OFTEN used to perform essential duties: depth perception digital dexterity handling hearing seeing sitting standing talking lifting (min. 5 lbs. assisted or unassisted)



Position requires a Confidentiality agreement.



Position requires a Non-Compete agreement.



Must maintain good housekeeping practices in the work area and comply with all safety rules and procedures. It is mandatory that all accidents and injuries be reported immediately to supervisor.



Must maintain just-in-time production methods, along with total quality control at the source of the work being performed.



Must read company publications such as "U-Haul News", policy bulletins, and other publications provided by supervisor, to understand U-Haul's Primary Service Objective (to provide a better and better product and service to more and more people at a lower and lower cost). Must use integrity and discretion in safeguarding confidential data handled or obtained in the normal performance of duties. Perform other related duties as required or assigned including to assist in the recovery of lost or stolen U-Haul property and equipment.
