Job Description:

This position reports to the CFO, and is responsible for overseeing the financial functions of the organization, primarily with a forward-looking perspective. This position will oversee the existing forecasting/modeling environment, current year budgeting, and assist in the development of the organization to achieve its future expectations of growth, and act as financial liaison to executive management. This position will participate in key decisions as a member of the finance leadership team. Maintain an in-depth understanding of the organization's capabilities, priorities, and needs and maintain a healthy and positive working relationship with the executive management, other senior leaders, faculty and staff.

Promote relationship building between finance staff members and all other divisions within the organization to ensure an attitude of mutual respect and internal client support. Provide a positive environment for staff to cultivate and provide opportunities for professional growth, including developing appropriate managerial reporting 1) to ensure priorities and goals are properly tracked and communicated and 2) to ensure problems are identified and communicated early for correction.
Develop financial models to guide strategy development and decision-making on potential acquisitions, related to revenue & profit maximization, cost reduction and improved cash flow.
Develop financial strategies and models: forecasting capital, facilities, and staff requirements; identifying monetary resources; gap analysis; developing action plans, setting goals and evaluating progress; manage budgets; develop tax and cash flow strategies; lead a continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of appropriate personnel; and applying sound fiscal practices.
Provide financial analysis and modeling as needed for highly complex and/or highly sensitive scenarios, in particular for strategic initiatives, capital investments, growth opportunities, pricing decision and contract negotiations; provide financial input on decision-making issues affecting the organization and its divisions. Assist with monitoring of investment portfolio performance, investor relations, and appropriate communication and reporting. Lead and manage annual and interim budgeting and forecasting cycles, and develop reporting to communicate appropriately. Assist in the development of tax strategies and transfer pricing policies between affiliated entities.
As part of the leadership team, identify, structure, negotiate, implement and record complex transactions including stock transactions, M&A, JV's, spin off organizations and partnerships critical to securing and enhancing long-term growth.
Assist in the preparation of presentations to the TGen Board Finance Committee and TGen Board including preparation of meeting agenda, distribution of financial information in advance of meeting, prepare content and presentation of financial information, and follow up on action items.
Implement and maintain necessary Oracle financial systems and reporting to support the needs of the Organization, including the Board of Directors, TGen researchers, and management.
Assist the Controller in identifying areas of focus and work with the Controller in the development of procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting.
Lead the annual budgeting process and reporting of budgets to management and department leads
May require occasional travel.
The successful candidate will possess the following requirements:

Financial Professional with minimum 10 years' experience as a financial leader, with for profit or non-profit experience in corporate/managerial finance, preferably in a research organization, health care systems, or other complex health related life science entity.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or higher. CPA certification a plus.
Must have a solid background of GAAP and corporate consolidation of financial information across non-profits and for-profit subsidiaries. Preferably with solid understanding of federal grant regulations/requirements.
Experience with IRS regulations around 501(c)3 tax exempt organizations.
Strong leadership skills: solution oriented, team player, outstanding customer orientation.
