Together, we will move the world forward!The Senior FPGA Design Engineer will lead a global team of engineers in Phoenix and India, on electronic control units for aerospace applications to complete CPLD and FPGA designs, simulations, synthesis, floor-planning and lab integration. The role will support the entire design life cycle from project planning efforts to entry into service and production transition support. Requirements definition using DOORS, detailed design, validation of requirements and verification of implementation. Also includes managing Problem reports for hardware that has already been delivered.Primary Responsibilities:Lead a team of FPGA designers to ensure efficient work, status, problem resolution and customer satisfactionProvide training as required to ensure compliance with DO-254 and other industry standards and certification standardsFollow DO-254 Level A program planning documentation, and ensure the CPLD/FPGA design team adheres to the plans.Capture and document the customer flowed down functional requirements, and develop and document the derived requirements for FPGAs.Design FPGA architectural diagrams, develop HDL to implement the design critical functionality.Develop sub-functions and test benches.Perform engineering timing simulations and functional analysis.Interface with the V&V team and Quality Engineers to support the creation of the DO-254.Support project planning efforts and ensure execution to schedule and budget.Creation and review of engineering documentationOther tasks as assignedQualification: Basic Qualifications:In-depth experience with simulating HDL and using Mentor ModelsimExperience with Actel, Xilinx, FPGAs and development toolsExcellent FPGA lab integration and troubleshooting knowledgeMust display excellent teamwork, team leadership, and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal skillsGood computer skills with the ability to learn new programs/softwareAbility to work under pressure and within time constraintsExcellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task amidst rapid changeHardware Verification experience including, test procedure development, robustness testing and debugExperience with hardware configuration management and problem reporting toolsPreferred Qualifications:Experience working within the DO-254 certification program(s), including Stages of Involvement ( SOI), Audits under EASA or FAAAbility to design test benchesMentor HDL Designer, Synopsys Synplify, Microsemi Libero SOC DesignEducation: Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace, Electrical, or Equivalent with 4 to 6 years of industry experienceNothing matters more to UTC Aerospace Systems than our strong ethical and safety commitments.
