Job Description Job Description The Production Maintenance
Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining and repairing
machinery in a sheet metal fabrication and roll forming operation.
$30.00-$32.00 per hour. 5am-1:30 pm M-F. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be
assigned. Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment
by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines,
motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines;
following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's
instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting
malfunctions. Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical
devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision
measuring and testing instruments. Removes defective parts by
dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power
tools; examining form and texture of parts. Determines changes in
dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using
rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by
using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges. Controls
downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive
maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance. Fabricates repair
parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking
stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment,
parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying
receipt. Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and
supplies as needed to accomplish job results. Provides mechanical
maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing,
and summarizing information and trends. Maintains technical
knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical
publications; establishing personal networks. Maintains continuity
among work teams by documenting and communicating actions,
irregularities, and continuing needs. Maintains safe and clean
working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and
regulations. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related
results as needed. QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below
are representative of the knowledge, skill, and abilities required
to perform this job successfully. Reasonable accommodations may be

essential functions. High School Diploma or GED required; College
or Technical School is a plus. Strong mechanical aptitude with
strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
Knowledge of sheet metal machinery and their functions. Must be
able to read blueprints, schematics and drawings. Ability to
troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and hydraulic
components in a timely manner. Ability to pass background check and
drug screen. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and write routine job
reports/job orders with attention to detail. Ability to understand
job instructions. Ability to communicate electronically with basic
understanding of computers & programs. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability
to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using
whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Attention to detail is a
requirement. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to interpret, understand,
and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule
form. ATTENDANCE DEMANDS: Attendance is required Monday through
Friday within normal business hours as established by the
supervisor. Employee may have opportunity to work overtime.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS : While performing the duties of this job, the
employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is
occasionally required to walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop,
kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25
pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and
occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Employee must be
able to communicate readily and to talk and hear. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are
representative of those an employee encounters while performing the
essential functions of this job. Occasionally exposed to cold & hot
climate conditions. Occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical
shock. Frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The
noise level in the work environment is occasionally very loud.
