Job Title : Project Design Engineer/Manager Job Location: Phoenix, AZ
Foxconn Interconnect Technology is seeking an experienced Project Design Manager to join our Phoenix, AZ office and be responsible for the design and development of CPU sockets and their corresponding loading mechanisms. The Project Design Manager is responsible for managing internal and external customers of a project from concept through high volume manufacturing - including product design, development, analysis, prototyping proof of concepts, validation and qualification testing, reliability testing, and ongoing quality control. If needed, this person will also collaborate with the customer, sales team and factory for any root cause failure analysis and corresponding corrective actions.
Primary responsibilities for the position of Applications Engineer include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Presents design concepts, engineering analysis (finite element, mold flow, signal integrity) or statistical analysis, and test data (electrical, mechanical, SMT) to customers
  • Reviews 2D drawings and 3D CAD models with customers and internal manufacturing engineers to identify potential issues and optimization
  • Works closely with back-end manufacturing engineers and guides them with customer's requirement and expectations to create working solutions
    • Reviews and presents DFM presentations to customers, including plastic molding and metal stamping, and converts customers' feedback into actionable items for follow through
    • Travels to Asia (manufacture sites) and remotely supports the product development, manufacturing, and quality control through product launch
    • Works collaboratively with the sales team to maintain the relationship with customers and to develop new business opportunities by promoting new solutions and technologies
    • Communicates with customer's technical teams to ensure timely technical support Qualifications/ Education/Certification preferred:
      • BS in ME/EE or equivalent; MS in ME/EE is a plus
      • Experience in electromechanical component or electrical connector development and manufacturing; Cable/interconnect and/or electronic accessory experience a plus
      • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision and utilize existing knowledge and sound judgement to thrive in a dynamic environment
      • Proficient with Solidworks CAD
      • Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
      • Experience with Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA)
      • Experience with Surface Mount Technology (SMT)
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
      • Fluent in English, Chinese (Mandarin) speaking a plus
      • Able to travel domestically and internationally (Taiwan and China) as needed
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
      • Must be able to work in the US
      • Must be willing to be relocated to Phoenix, AZ
