• Great company cultureJob DetailsWe are looking for a Database Software Engineer to join our survey team. We conduct several massive surveys of the U.S. population each year, surveying thousands of people across hundreds of different questions and topic domains. These surveys include questions about major household brands, politics, and advocacy, to serve as the ground truth for our machine learning and our software-as-a-service platform.This position will be responsible for the day-to-day loading, operations, and software engineering of the custom-written PostgreSQL ETL software we built to load and analyze these surveys, as well as adding new features and participating in new engineering initiatives to improve it.Key Responsibilities
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary agile scrum team of engineers, data scientists, survey analysts, and program managers to field, load, and deploy six surveys yearly
  • Handle all routine ETL tasks related to survey loading
  • Help ensure quality of the survey data (writing test cases to prevent re-occurrence)
  • Debug issues as they come up
  • Develop and deploy new features as needed, using SQL, PL/SQL and Java
  • Suggest and help architect software improvements to increase efficiency and qualityQualifications & Experience Requirements
    • 3-4 years of deep experience writing SQL queries and PL/SQL functions
    • Familiarity with triggers, ctes, dynamic sql
    • 1+ years Java experience is preferred
    • Experience with Data Quality Assurance is preferred
    • Experience with AWS ecosystem is preferred
    • Experience with data modeling and database normalization
    • Experience debugging and tuning SQL queries
    • Experience supporting production operations
    • Experience with Unix command line
    • Ability to work quickly and independently with minimal guidance or oversight
    • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
