$66,200.00 - $78,000.00 per year; DOE About the Role This position
provides oversight, direction and coordination of the activities
and initiatives of the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (“the
Office”) affiliated with the Graduate College. Under the
administrative direction of the executive director of graduate
student and scholar success, the manager will design, implement,
and assess activities and resources aimed at facilitating and
enhancing all aspects of the postdoctoral experience. In addition
to assuming operational oversight of postdoctoral hiring to align
with faculty processes, this role oversees postdoctoral policies
and handbook, supports external funding efforts, ensures
appropriate mentoring, supports the academic units with onboarding
and career development, and collaborates with the Postdoc Council
to strengthen the postdoc community. The manager will ensure that
the goals and objectives of the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs are
accomplished in accordance with the directives, priorities, time
and funding parameters of the institution. This position will also
complement and leverage other initiatives within the Graduate
College. Essential Duties: Manages the daily operations of the
Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, including workflow coordination,
communications, and alignment with Graduate College initiatives
Designs, implements, and assesses postdoctoral programs and
initiatives in accordance with National Postdoctoral Association
best practices Oversees postdoctoral hiring processes, including
review and approval of position requests, job postings, search
plans, and offer letters to ensure compliance with university and
ABOR policies Interprets and communicates academic personnel
policies and procedures to faculty, staff, and academic units
Assists units with the development of recruitment strategies, job
postings, and hiring documentation to ensure compliance with
applicable laws and university guidelines Develops and maintains
postdoctoral policies, handbooks, templates, website, and online
resources In partnership with academic units, facilitates
onboarding, support, and evaluation processes for postdoctoral
scholars, including annual reviews and exit procedures Plans and
executes postdoctoral programs and events, including the
postdoctoral scholar welcome, professional development workshops,
National Postdoc Appreciation Week, and the Arizona Postdoctoral
Research Conference Facilitates the ASU Postdoc Council and
supports initiatives that strengthen postdoctoral community
engagement and belonging Provides guidance and issue resolution
support related to the postdoctoral experience, including grievance
support as appropriate Supports development of mentoring and career
development resources, including Individual Development Plans
(IDPs), mentoring guidelines, and training modules Administers and
coordinates internal funding opportunities for postdoctoral
scholars and supports the development of external funding proposals
and training grants Identifies and addresses barriers to
postdoctoral participation in research and funding opportunities
Collects, analyzes, and reports data on postdoctoral hiring,
demographics, and program outcomes; develops dashboards and reports
for leadership Monitors postdoctoral compensation trends, including
salaries and benefits, and provides recommendations based on market
analysis Develops and manages the Office budget in collaboration
with business operations; ensures activities align with funding
guidelines Builds and maintains partnerships with academic units,
research centers, and internal and external stakeholders to support
postdoctoral success Collaborates with institutional leadership and
advisory groups to establish strategic priorities, goals, and
annual plans Represents ASU in state, regional, and national
postdoctoral networks and organizations May supervise student
workers or interns supporting program activities Desired
Qualifications: PhD or doctorate Experience as a postdoctoral
scholar or working with postdoctoral scholars Highly effective
written and verbal communication skills Experience with principles,
practices and procedures of human resource or academic personnel
processes. Knowledge of University and ABOR policies and
procedures, and applicable federal and state laws, pertaining to
academic personnel matters Ability to work collaboratively in a
team environment, subject to complex and changing dynamics and
priorities Experience with establishing and maintaining effective
working relationships and facilitating work teams Experience with
program planning, student services and/or career development
Experience working with multiple projects concurrently Knowledge of
research funding and the demonstrated ability to develop proposals
for external funding of projects Demonstrated knowledge of
processes for disseminating results through presentations, reports,
and publications Demonstrated knowledge of processes to conduct
needs assessments, and experience designing and assessing programs
through the use of surveys, focus groups and other data collection
