the future of American Express. The VP Opex COE will lead a team
responsible for the planning, reporting, forecasting, capabilities,
and analytics at an Enterprise level for one of the largest P&L
items at American Express. This role will work closely with other
planning and decision support teams in addition to business
partners and senior leaders charged with driving transformation at
AXP. The ideal candidate will bring a unique balance of strong
analytical, communication and people leadership skills and comfort
with ambiguity. They must be able to build solid, trust-based
relationships with key stakeholders, while driving process and
capabilities enhancements and driving accountability.
Responsibilities: • Provide thought leadership and creativity in
tackling how we invest and targeting efficiency • Drive
capabilities and decision support activities across Enterprise
level Opex supporting business units in their forecasting and
management • Lead a team responsible for end-to-end ownership of
the Opex planning, forecasting, and results analysis processes,
which include the annual plan, monthly R&Os, and Long Range
Plan and Executive team presentation materials. • Ensure financial
rigor and integrity of Opex targeting and tracking. • Build strong
relationships with stakeholders, including FP&A teams, decision
support teams and business partners. • Develop materials for
Monthly Executive Committee reviews • Lead a team of 13 FTE across
multiple locations Minimum Qualifications: • Highly-motivated
leader with an ability to drive results independently and solve
complex problems • Exceptional relationship and collaboration
skills, including the ability to work in a highly-matrixed
environment • Strong analytics skillset paired with exemplary
communication skills with the ability to break down complex ideas
into understandable/actionable messages and tailor messages to
non-technical audiences • Strong business acumen and strategic
thinking • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, disparate
projects concurrently without sacrificing quality • Track record of
effectively coaching and developing colleagues • Ability to make
well-reasoned recommendations, from financial, academic, and
strategic points of view • Experience managing processes and big
data and analytics preferred • 10 years of relevant work experience
• Bachelor’s Degree required, advanced degree in relevant field
preferred Salary Range: $176,750.00 to $282,000.00 annually bonus
