Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY - The Controller oversees accounting functions within the organization. This includes oversight of payroll, accounts payable and receivable, financial statements, and reporting. The Controller is responsible for annual audits and maintaining internal controls, while overseeing financial systems and related compliance requirements. The Controller must have proven experience leading a high performing team as well as the capacity to set and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment. This is an exempt position reporting to the Vice President of Finance. Essential Functions

  • Leadership
    • Lead, develop, and manage an ambitious high-performing team
      • Coordinate and deliver developmentally appropriate training and supervision to ensure all services are provided in alignment with GAAP and Baylesss mission
      • Monitor and assess staff morale and build team continuity
      • Actively participate in performance management activities
        • Routine and scheduled supervision meetings
        • Quarterly reviews
        • Monitor and address performance concerns
        • Functional audits
        • Cultivate and foster a culture of constant improvement, identifying, and implementing projects to increase clinic effectiveness and efficiency
        • Oversee the compliance of all internal and external regulations concerning the accounting functions
        • Financial
          • Provide the executive team with weekly monthly and ad-hoc reports as requested to facilitate the management of the company
          • Manage and drive the month end and year-end financial close processes
            • Responsible for the overall accuracy of the internal financial data and external financial statements
            • Responsible for analyzing variances from budget and forecast and reporting such to executive team
            • Establish and maintain internal controls to
              • Safeguard assets of the company,
              • Ensure the accuracy and reliability of accounting records and information,
              • Promote efficiency in the companys operations, and
              • Measure compliance with managements prescribed policies and procedures
              • Oversee the provision of accounting functions
                • Oversee payroll function and ensure compliance with all pay practices and benefit funding requirements.
                • Monitor and enforce compliance with 401k funding and audit activities
                • Other related duties as assigned. - Education and Experience Requirements
                  • Bachelors degree in Accounting and/or Finance (Required); Masters degree preferred
                  • CPA certification preferred
                  • Minimum 5 years accounting (or finance) experience
                  • Minimum 3 years management experience to include building a successful team, employee coaching & counseling and employee development skills
                  • Ability to communicate succinctly & compellingly both verbally and in writing
                  • Strong analytical/conceptual thinking skills
                  • Must be flexible, able to manage multiple priorities and able to shift resources and priorities as required
                  • Knowledge of accounting, forecasting, budgeting, cost analysis, and financial modeling
                  • Working knowledge of audits, and other regulatory requirements - Tools and Equipment Requirements - - - - - - - Up to date with advancements in office gadgets and applications (i.e., phone, computer, printer, copier, etc.) - - - - - - - Must have superior computer skills and demonstrate proficiency in the use of productivity software (MS Office), Payroll and HRIS systems, - - - - - - - Must have the ability to use the internet and various web browser software - Physical Working Conditions and Office Setting Description
                    • This position may be remote, hybrid or in-person based on the assigned departments business needs.
