Summary

FBO Financial Analyst I / II - Participates in a variety of financial analysis projects or functions including budget preparation, variance analysis, business operational metric reporting, net present values, cash flow analysis, forecasting, and operating expense and financial results reporting and analysis. Gather and review data, update financial and business operations models and applications, analyze and report results.

Gather and review data, update financial and business operations models and applications, analyze and report results. Provide assistance in the development of financial and operational report packages. Partners in financial and operational decision support and business unit planning projects.

Minimum Requirements

FBO Financial Analyst I

  • Bachelors' degree in finance, accounting economics, mathematics or related field AND one (1) year prior directly related experience
  • Basic knowledge of finance or economic analysis & Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, (GAAP).
  • Good research and effective communication. Good word processing and spreadsheet skills.
    Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications

    * Exposure to related analytical, financial, database, and/or business operations tools. Good research and effective communication skills.

    FBO Financial Analyst II

  • Bachelors' degree in finance, accounting economics, mathematics or related field AND two (2) years directly related financial analysis, data analytics or business operation or experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Knowledge of finance and economic analysis, business operations, or business planning.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) desirable.
  • Strong research, data management and effective communication skills a must.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.) and database tools.
    Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications

  • MBA or Master's degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of related analytical, financial, database, and/or business operations tools (i.e. Cognos, PowerPlant, Hyperion, Maximo, supply chain and inventory systems).
  • Directly related experience in the utility or energy services industry.
  • Travel may be required.
    Major Accountabilities

  • Performs routine corporate financial tasks such as budgeting, accruals, variance analysis, and short and long-term forecasting for the business units, working under limited supervision.
  • Supports the monthly accounting close process by performing accruals and variance analysis, and preparation of variance explanations and communication to management. Ensures financial events and transactions are reported to Accounting for proper financial statement recording and accounting treatment.
  • Partners in administering department programs / plans by maintaining knowledge of each and preparing ongoing analyses of specific topics.
  • Ensures compliance by maintaining appropriate documentation, files, records, systems, or desk procedures.
  • Participates in the development of limited scope financial and operational decision support and business unit planning projects and initiatives. Advises mid-level business leadership on financial performance and priorities.
  • Provide support in the development, compilation, presentation and communication of performance report packages for management reporting including identification of significant findings and conclusions through the use of existing technology and strong understanding of business unit financial and operations related data.
  • Maintains knowledge of the primary emerging issues facing the industry and company business specifics.
  • Develops general knowledge of company, business policies and procedures, accounting practices, and federal state regulations.
  • Assists in identifying continuous improvement opportunities within the organization and incorporate continuous improvement principles and practices into business partnerships.
  • Provides support to other team members to enhance development and productivity.

    Flex Role:

    This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present. Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work. Employees will have two options to choose from:

  • APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.
  • Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.
  • Employees in Flex roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
