SUMMARY
The Payroll Clerk will be a key member of the payroll and
accounting team and will report to the Payroll Administrator. The
payroll clerk will have a wide range of duties in the Payroll and
Human Resources departments and will have an immediate impact on
helping the company grow its work force. The payroll clerk will be
responsible for assisting accounting with the quick and efficient
processing of payroll. The ideal candidate must have strong
abilities to process high volume of data, attention to detail,
ability to work in fast past environment and most importantly, the
ability to retain confidential information. Excellent interpersonal
skills, pleasant phone manner, efficient typing ability (data
entry), and familiarity with payroll software.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Review and enter new hire paperwork data into software and file
into employee personnel files.
* Review all I-9's, enter into E-Verify, print and pass records
onto Human Resources for review then file accordingly.
* Process and issue employee paychecks and statements of earnings
and deductions.
* Compute wages and deductions, and enter data into computers.
* Review time sheets, work charts, wage computation, and other
information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
* Compile employee time, production, and payroll data from time
sheets and other records.
* Review, correct and enter time sheets into database and payroll
software for multiple unions and nonunion employees on a weekly
basis; payroll is in-house so this also includes printing and
distribution of checks
* Generate and distribute necessary reports internally and
externally.
* Gather documentation for company audits on a timely basis.
* Maintain utmost confidentiality of company information.
* Comply with Company established policies and procedures.
* Perform additional assignments as directed by Payroll
Administrator.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
* 3 years of experience working in accounting or bookkeeping with
at least two years of payroll experience preferred.
* High school diploma or equivalent required
* Working knowledge of the construction industry a plus.
* Working knowledge of federal, state, and city regulations and
guidelines.
PREFERRED SKILLS and ABILITIES
Business writing and reporting skills
* Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal
skills
* Time management skills - ability to meet frequent deadlines
* Strategic, analytical, and multi-tasking skills
* Attention to detail
COMPUTER SKILLS
Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications,
(i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel).
* Working knowledge of payroll, project and financial software.
