Job Description:

The Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) is a non-profit organization focused on developing earlier diagnostics and smarter treatments. Translational genomics research employs innovative advances arising from the Human Genome Project and applying them to the development of diagnostics, prognostics and therapies for cancer, neurological disorders, diabetes and other complex diseases. Reporting to VP Finance, the Financial Analyst is responsible for understanding the operations of the institute, to prepare and provide analysis and insights in support of the overall financial management of the institution. The incumbent will be a professional, highly motivated self-starter, capable of working well with others within the Finance organization and across the organization. Detailed Description: Assist with organizing and developing the annual budgetWork with Operations Finance in support of development of accurate consolidated institutional forecastsProvide timely reporting of monthly financial forecasts, with variance explanations to actual results.Forecast consolidating and consolidated financial statements, including statement of Financial Position and Statement of Cash FlowCommunicate frequently with the TGen Foundation, Research Operations and Business Development regarding new and upcoming projects, and revisions to existing projects.Develop complex financial models and analyses to facilitate decision making.Manage and model financial transactional impacts to Indirect Cost rate; assist with annual indirect cost rate proposalResponsible for taking a lead role in assigned complex assignments/projectsPoint of contact with external consultants for planning software (EPBCS)Perform other duties as assigned or required..

Strong financial analysis foundation for creating forecasts and models.Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).Advanced Excel skills.Experience using Oracle, Hyperion and/or EPBCS is highly preferred. Experience with non-profit accounting principles and procedures.Strong organizational skills.Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, along with superior attention to detail.Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally.Ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects and/or deadlines.Ability to work with little or no supervision.Ability to exercise sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions.Ability to establish and maintain professional, effective, and appropriate relationships with other groups and senior management.EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:A minimum of a Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Accounting/Finance.
