Accounting Clerk

Job Description

Department: Accounting FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Executive Director

Position Summary:

We are looking for an organized, efficient Accounting Clerk with an eye for detail and high level of accuracy. Accounting clerk will provide general support to the accounting department in the form of helping with inputting journal entries, assisting with month end activities and both accounts payable & receivable, processing invoices and record maintenance, prepare financial reports, issue checks and making deposits, and generally ensure that the office operations are running smoothly. You should be professional and courteous with strong computer skills and a thorough understanding of accounting and financial principles.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations and ensure that there is a redundant process backup in place for every critical operation
  • Maintaining a database, ensuring that records are complete and current
  • Create new internal accounting corporate policies and maintain existing policies
  • Monitor emerging technology to determine ways to automate the accounting process without sacrificing accuracy and accountability
  • Develop monthly and quarterly accounting reports for the management and executive teams
  • Implement and monitor the month, quarter, and year-end closeout accounting schedules
  • Monitor all vendor payment agreements to find discounts that can be used to reduce invoice amounts
  • Post daily deposits, Manage drug inventory, vitamins, and medical supplies
  • Reconcile bank statements by comparing transactions to the general ledger
  • Performing basic office tasks, including answering phones, responding to emails, processing mail, filing, etc.
  • Preparing checks, deposits, budgets, and financial reports
  • Updating ledgers, researching, and resolving discrepancies
  • Abiding by all company procedures and accounting principles
  • Ensuring Accounting Department runs smoothly and efficiently
  • General Payroll functionsPosition Requirements: Education and Experience:
    • High school diploma or GED; at least 6 months of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Associate degree in business or accounting an advantage
    • Prior experience with QuickBooks preferred
    • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting and bookkeeping principles and procedures
    • Ethical behavior when dealing with sensitive financial information.
    • Computer literacy and strong typing skills, experience with accounting software may be required.
    • Knowledge and willingness to comply with all company, local, state, and federal financial regulations.
